Chapter 4: The Path Ahead

The Dome of Fontaine
Lake Guardian

Yui had a small amount of difficulty whilst assisting Cid explore the passages, her previous ass kicking still affecting her despite Cid's strange ritual to make her into a dragoon seeming to restore most of her non-crappy feelings.

But helping Cid more around on top of recovering from the ass-kicking was a bit much for her, even with the power of a dragoon flowing through her veins. So she took it slow, both due to soreness and since she didn't really know where Cid wanted to go.

She had to follow his lead, so her attention was on him to try to pick up on any "tells" as to which way he was going to go. She stopped assisting his movements as he came to a stop at a locked chest, watching as he moved forward and smashed the thing open.

Yui reached out and took the armor with both hands, shocked at Cid suddenly handing her armor out of nowhere. It appeared to be around the same size as what she had now, but was much more flexible. It seemed much sturdier as well and, well, it didn't have chunks of metal torn out of the stomach from a dragon-esk creature either.

It didn't take her long to swap armors, finding the dragon hide armor to be a little snug but not uncomfortably so. She kept the shoulder sections from her plate armor, though, since it meshed well with her mechanical arm and looked at least somewhat reasonable, wearing them above the dragon hide armor for visuals more than anything.

She kept her plate armor via holding onto one of the straps of leather that resided within it, figuring that if she were disarmed she could just smack someone with the armor instead.

A silly idea, but not exactly unreasonable, she thought.

---Updates---
Yui has obtained Dragon Hide Armor lv100 (E)!

(OOC Note: I'm equipping for visualization purposes, she's still got the plate armor stat-wise..And running around with plate armor with holes in it is kinda dumb on most peoples part. Razz Also what color is the hide armor? Does it just look like leather or is it colored based on the dragon that was slain to make it?)

Agnes Nera

Chapter 4: The Path Ahead~
Dome of Fontaine

Since she saw the dark cloud at the beach, Agnes has been having weird visions. She could feel the dark presence of the Vampires, even though they were several miles away. She was acting like she was on autopilot, her mind was drifting elsewhere, but her body was following Cid's orders and tailing them wherever they went.

She could hear the demon calling out to her. Telling her all sorts of vile things, trying to corrupt her mind with it's evil.~ She was fully prepared to end it all when she crashed the airship on one of the twins, but somehow she managed to come out of that crash unscathed and more powerful than ever. This demon wasn't going to allow her to die that easily, she knew she had to die to end it all. But after attempting to kill herself, Agnes was now even more scared and the demon fed off from her fear~ It made her weaker and the demon stronger. She was starting to go in and out but was able to regain her senses when Cid handed her an old cracked ring.~

Agnes was starting to have thoughts about killing everyone on the island. It was the demon's will imposing on her, slowly turning her into it's puppet.~ She wanted more than just Agnes' soul, it was also looking for a means to spread it's evil unto this world.~

While going in and out of herself, Agnes heard that they needed to get through the pile of rubble blocking their way. She was aware of the Vampires, being able to sense their dark energy, but she was not in full control of herself. She was more prone to violence and less inclined to think for another solution around this mess. She aimed her palm at the rubble, her eyes flashed an eerie red glow.

"Whistle thrice in the direction of east. Stand after whistling and intone in a strong voice: Wind, power of air! Come forth to this day! Blow out the old and whisk in the new. Let me call the winds, the winds of change!"

Powerful Gusts of wind rushed from the passages and rammed the rubble blocking the path. Then a thick cloud of dust explodes from the rubble, the result of her power will be revealed when the dust settles.~

Chapter 4: The Path Ahead

The Dome of Fontaine
Lake Guardian

The Vampires can't sense targets from miles away like Agnes can. It shows just how much powerful Agnes has become since she first fused with the Demon back in Drakestone. With her powers quickly raising, it was only a matter of time before the Demon comes for her.

Agnes' careless actions have revealed their location to the Vampires patrolling the Dome. At first the vampires were having difficulty tracing the scent of blood found on the walls, but after Agnes used her magic, they were able realize that their targets were hiding within the walls. The Vampires used the powerful claws and fists like a jack hammer to break through the 12 inch concrete slabs that made up the walls of the Dome.

But it wasn't all bad news, Agnes was able to remove the rubble blocking the path to the Chamber of Fontaine. Cid hops down the chamber and takes out a flint and proceeds to light one of the pillars that had some sort of liquid dripping down on it. The sparks from the flint landed on the liquid, quickly igniting it. The flames traveled around the Chamber, following the streak of flammable liquid.

Cid explains that the liquid is Dragon oil. A substance that never consumes even when set a blaze. The flames soon lit up the entire chamber, revealing it's magnificence. The walls were made of polished Ivory Granite, coupled by Golden details. But the most magnificent thing in the chamber was the bones of the Dragon surrounding a sarcophagus. This were the remains of the mighty Dragon Baylor and it's rider the great Dragooness herself, Louisa Fontaine.

Mannequins were placed around the Chamber and were equipped with the Armors and Weapons of the past Dragoons that defended this Dome. Cid limps over to one of them and takes the armor and puts it on. "We'll be needed these. Hurry put them on."

The other crew members quickly went towards the other armors and began doing as their Captain commanded.

Chapter 4: The Path Ahead

The Dome of Fontaine
Lake Guardian

Yui was surprised as the girl blew away the rubble, unable to help but cough a few times as the dust filled the immediate area. She followed Cid down the chamber, watching in awe as he lit some sort of liquid aflame and the room began to light up.

The room was large and impressive in its design, with the flame casting a warmer color on what she could only assume was primarily white surfaces, causing it to appear slightly orange. The little golden details here and there seemed to reflect the light, making them more apparent as they formed into various symbols along the pillars and walls.

Her eyes wandered over the mannequins, taking in everything in the room to the best of her ability before her eyes fixated on the sarcophagus in the middle of the room. She felt some sort of significance to it as she opted to approach the bones and sarcophagus, feeling a small level of sorrow as she ran her non-metal hand along one of the bones.

She couldn't quite explain why it seemed important, a frown appearing on her face as it felt like she was missing someone that she never knew to begin with.

But her focus on the sarcophagus was disrupted by the loud crashing of heavy stone slabs hitting the floor, causing her to look back towards the hallway and then to Cid with a rather serious look on her face.

But Cid was practically in her face, causing that serious face to turn into one of mild surprise as he practically shoved a set of armor into her hands. She found the armor itself to be beautiful, but it seemed a little less sturdy than what she had received earlier.

She didn't think she would have time to change her armors again anyway and used one of the leather straps from her plate armor, looping it through this new armor in order to be able to hold onto both via the straps. She couldn't carry everything, after all, and the plate armor was pretty banged up to begin with.

Agnes Nera
Chapter 4: The Path Ahead~
Dome of Fontaine

Immediately after she cast her spell, Agnes regained full control of her body and her eyes returned to their normal shade. She was showing signs indicative of violence, but her actions weren't enough to suggest that she was, merely careless. Still, she knew what was truly happening in her head. The demon's hold of her body and mind was steadily spreading as it's powers increased.~

Agnes was the last person to leave the passages. She felt unsure of herself and it made her stress over things like killing Cid and his friends. But she digressed, her mental state was stable for the moment.~

The chamber was entertaining, in a sense. But she wasn't really interested in the glamorous and fancy designs of the room. Not even the dragon bones nor the coffin, was enough to tickle her interest.~

The white lizard was in a hurry. He wanted everyone to put on the fancy armors encircling the room. Agnes was not a fan of heavy armor but it seemed darn important so she dawned it over her old one, not wanting to strip infront of the men.~

"Now what~??" Agnes asked.

Chapter 4: The Path Ahead

The Dome of Fontaine
Lake Guardian

The armors will provide the men with far more than just ordinary protection as Cid is about to demonstrate. Cid walked up to the Sarcophagus and proceeded to open it. It was heavier than he expected and his missing limb was not making it easier for the old Dragonqin. As a result, he failed to open the lid on his own. It required the cooperation of all the crew members in order to lift open the ponderous slab of stone.

When the Sarcophagus was finally opened, it revealed that there was no body or remains inside, but a passage. The tunnel leads to an exit located behind the Dome. However, there was one problem. The path to the exit is guarded by a creature that will slay anything that isn't a Dragoon or is wearing the protective armor mentioned above.

They better hurry, the Vampires can move like the shadow. Some of them are already in the hidden passages and are well on their way towards Cid and the party. Sensing danger, Cid urges everyone to enter the tunnel quickly.

Yui used her metal hand to cover her mouth and nose as the sarcophagus was opened, not wanting to inhale any dust that might have come off of it. The last thing that everyone needed at this point was for someone to start a coughing fit, after all.

She slung the straps she had used to fasten the armors together over her shoulder, the armors going behind her as she held onto them via the straps. Yui hesitated before moving down into the passage herself, waiting for others to go on ahead and giving Cid a moment to start moving into the path himself. She kept herself towards the back of the group, in the off chance that Cid would require assistance to keep the pace with everyone else.

She didn't want to leave him behind after all he had done for her, so she tried to ensure that he would not be left behind due to the increased speed they'd likely be traveling.

Chapter 4: The Path Ahead

The Dome of Fontaine
Lake Guardian

The tunnel had a streak of Dragon Oil running on the side, Cid lit it to light the way to the exit. It was not explained why Cid knew so much about the Dome's structure and it's hidden passages. But one thing is clear, something vile and dangerous is chasing after them. At this point, everyone could feel the spine chilling bloodlust of the vampires. It was an odd and eerie feeling, like when you could sense that something in the darkness is staring at you, but you can't see it. This made the crew less calm and collected.

The Vampires were able to enter the Chamber of Fontaine. By this time though, everyone had already entered the tunnel and the Sarcophagus is already closed. The Vampire Lord, the young girl Eligor met at Oghlis, were among the first Vampires that entered the Chamber. She quickly noticed that there are several missing armors in the room as shown by the naked mannequins.

One Vampire rips open the Sarcophagus after tracking the human's scent. He looks to his master, the little lady, and waits for her to give the go ahead signal to enter the tunnel. She nods, and immediately six Vampires rushed into the tunnel, chasing Cid and his party. Meanwhile the Vampire Lord walks up to one of the Armors and looks at it with great interest. She pick one up and holds it over her chest.

Agnes Nera
Chapter 4: The Path Ahead~
Dome of Fontaine

"They're coming~!" Agnes could feel the Vampires getting close to their location. It was a shitty feeling, having a demon inside you, but sometimes it does have it's pros. Agnes wasn't the last person who entered the creepy little tunnel. So when she suddenly stopped, the guy behind her bumped into her.~ She could like literally sense the Vampires like she had some sort of tracking device in her brain. She repeated what she said earlier and added "They're coming. We have to hurry~!~"

Agnes moved to the rear of the group and pushed the others to go on ahead. "You guys have to run~! There's something terrible chasing us. I'll try and hold it back for as long as I can.~" Agnes said before taking off the heavy armor Cid made her wear. It was seriously weighing her down and her shoulders were already getting stiff from the heavy load.~

Chapter 4: The Path Ahead

The Dome of Fontaine
Lake Guardian

Yui was already in the back due to her feeling that she had to wait for Cid, approaching Agnes as she made her way through the passage and the girl turned around and proclaimed that she'd hold off whatever was coming.

The girls declaration only seemed to anger Yui, placing a rather foul look on her face. Cid lost a body part for this girl and Yui herself had gotten her ass kicked, all on this girls behalf. There was no way she was going to let the girl stay behind.

She wasn't in the mood for any of the cliche sacrificial heroic crap, so she gave Agnes a stern look as she passed by and lifted her metal arm up. In one swift motion she'd hook two metal fingers into the collar of the other girls clothes, pulling her along regardless of what her desires were.

Yui didn't exactly have time to stop and write a note asking for permission, or to tell the girl to cut the crap and move her ass, so this would simply have to do.

Her mind wandered as the hairs on the back of her neck stood up, a feeling of dread washing over her and snapping her out of her distracting anger. She took note of the passage as she moved, her anger lowering more to the levels of an inconvenient annoyance.

The passage itself seemed to be holding to form rather well, but it was apparent that much of it was old, worn and beaten. The group would have to be absolutely careful, she thought, otherwise the entire thing could come crashing down and kill them all.

Agnes Nera
Chapter 4: The Path Ahead~
Dome of Fontaine

"Let me go you savage~!" Agnes swatted away Yui's arm from her collar. It hurt like hell but she was able to break free from the muscle bound freakish woman. She planted one hand on her curvy hips and pointed the other at Yui's face "If you ever handle me like that again I'm going to make you regret it.~!"

Agnes wasn't usually this hot headed but she wasn't exactly herself either. Fully aware of the danger that is, Agnes chose to confront the beastie woman regarding her attitude towards her. It would be best if she stayed behind, no body else would have to friggin die for her. The Savage woman would never understand why Agnes needed to sacrifice herself. She was doing it to save these guys from the things that were after them and from herself. "Touch me again and I'll make you reach the end of the tunnel much faster than you had hoped for.~!"

Chapter 4: The Path Ahead

The Dome of Fontaine
Lake Guardian

Yui turned around as the girl removed her hand from the collar of her attire, frowning at the girls tone, apparent idiocy and the fact that she simply thought she was better than her.

Admittedly, things had gone quite a bit better for Agnes than for Yui if recent events were to indicate anything. But that didn't override the temptation to slam her shiny metal fist right into the girls face.

She let out a heavy sigh and closed her metal hand into a fist, bringing her opposite hand alongside and gripping onto an invisible thing alongside her hand. She began to turn the crank, the middle finger on her metal hand slowly raising with the occasional clicking around every few moments.

Yui shot Agnes a slick smile once the finger was fully raised, closing her metal hand back into a fist and sticking her thumb out before making a motion similar to slinging something over her shoulder.

She was indicating, heavily, that it was time to go. It was quite apparent that she was less than amused by the girls infantile notions of heroics and simply wanted to continue, not wishing to waste time trying to convince a suicidal dolt to not get killed.

While Agnes and Yui were settling things between themselves, Cid and the other were already far ahead. They were too scared of Agnes to try and conflict with her, Cid was also unaware that a debate was going on between the two. He was more focused on finding the exit.

Chapter 4: The Path Ahead - Page 2 Scenevamp
"My my my... I didn't expect to see two lovely ladies here. I thought I'd find treasure hunters. Some rugged looking fat guy or a Qin. What do you say Pythea?" Said a man who suddenly appear from the shadows.

A woman silently walks up from behind the man, her eyes were giving off a eerie glare. She liked her lips as if to indicate that she was enticed by what she was looking at and said, "Man, Woman... They're all the same to me.... So which one is yours?"

"I like the cute one with the short hair. She looks like a nice girl." The man replied.

Agnes Nera
Chapter 4: The Path Ahead~
Dome of Fontaine

Agnes was puzzled with the hulkish woman's actions. Whatever she did made absolutely no sense to Agnes. It was also irritating how she wasn't able to speak. It was like talking to a an animal, like literally. "Look~! I'm not going to tell you twice~! I know you understand what I'm saying. Go to your lover~! Just let me do what I want~!"

Agnes was so fixated with Yui that she totally forgot about the things that were after them. Suddenly, a long haired man with sharp teeth came up from behind them and started blabbering non-sense. Another person, a half-naked woman with bat like eyes joined him and she too was bickering non-sense. Honestly, Agnes was not in the mood for non-sense right now.~

It took her a couple of minutes before she was able to identify what type of being those two are. Sensing their dark energy, Agnes quickly changed moods. She shoved Yui back and put the hulkish woman behind her. "Go~! I'll handle this~!"

The Dome of Fontaine

Yui leaned forward, expecting to have to resist being pushed over by the girl. Little did she know that, much like the girls short stature, the girls ability to push her seemed to be...Less than impressive, to say the least.

The annoyed look on her face quickly turned into a sort of smug grin as she simply failed to move from the smaller girls push, Yui's leaning into the push instead pushing the girl's hand back slightly from sheer strength alone.

Yui spotted the figures approaching and pushed her way past Agnes, requiring very little effort as she brought her spear forward and took up an offensive stance slightly ahead of the girl. She took a few small steps to the side, shifting her position so that she was not standing directly in the girls way.

She was actually somewhat amused, the smug grin persisting even as she took up a combative stance. At least she had something over the rude girl, she thought. She tapped her metal fingers along the shaft of the spear, waiting for the figures to make their move.

Chapter 4: The Path Ahead

The Dome of Fontaine
Lake Guardian

Agnes failed to hold back on her destructive abilities once again and it caused the surrounding environment to fail. The tunnel collapsed, sending a ton of rubble on the side of the Vampires, burying them. In a way it was a good move because it prevented the other Vampires from chasing after them and it did save Yui from being beaten. However, it wasn't all good news. Shortly after the collapse, the tunnel became unstable and it was about to cave in.

Cid returned furious at the two. He finds them standing there at their backs were a pile of rubble. He was wondering what happened after only leaving them for a few minutes. "What in blazes happened er'!? You two go on ahead! Hurry! I'll be keeping my eye on you! And you little girl! Pick that armor up and put it on like I told you!"

The tremors were starting to intensify. They did not have time to argue, because if they did, they would be crushed by thousand of tons of soil.

*CHALLENGE EVENT*

You have to make it out of the tunnel before it Collapses. You cannot turn back because Cid is blocking the rear.  To escape the Tunnel, you must make it to the area where the Sentry is. It is approximately 2 posts away. The tremors and the collapsing structure makes it difficult for anyone to travel quickly in the tunnels.

You must roll TWO CHECKS, one attempt for each post in order to reach the Sentry area. You have will be given a maximum of 5 tries, but you must make it out on the 5th. Failure will result to Character Death. You can help a comrade but it will cost you 2 tries.

If you go over 5 tries including a rescue attempt, you will fail the Event. If you reach the Sentry area and choose to come back to save a comrade, your ROLL and your COMRADE'S roll will be counted as one attempt and you only need 1 CHECK to make it count as a success.

Important notes:
Escape Attempt = 1 Try
Rescue Attempt = 2 Tries
Max Try Limit is 5 per person
Required Checks to reach the Sentry area is 2 per person

Chapter 4: The Path Ahead

The Dome of Fontaine
Lake Guardian

Yui rolled over onto her stomach and was in the process of clamoring to her feet when Agnes' Ultima Bolt went off, causing her to nearly collapse back onto the ground. She was steadily reclaiming her breath, stumbling somewhat as she got back to her feet.

She placed the end of her spear against the floor, using it to steady herself as the tremors began and steadily started to intensify. Yui had regained most of her senses when Cid arrived, understandably furious at both Agnes and herself.

Yui started to hurry along as Cid instructed, looking back and trying to indicate with her metal hand for Agnes and Cid to follow. However, she wasn't quite up to the task of multitasking just yet. She stumbled forward and gripped onto her spear with both hands, turning her attention back to the front as she stopped for a moment to collect herself.

She took a deep breath and did her best to relax before continuing, walking at a brisk pace rather than attempting to run just yet. The tremors causing her balance to fail at random intervals as they grew stronger and stronger, causing her to start leaning either left or right and place a hand onto one of the walls of the passageway to keep from falling over.

It didn't help much that her gut hurt like hell. Breathing was excessively uncomfortable for her after getting hit in the stomach so hard, but thankfully she wasn't dead yet. The minute amount of pain she was experiencing caused her to have difficulty keeping her breathing at a steady pace, finding her breaths to vary in strength and amount of oxygen received.

But she pressed onward despite the discomfort. A little soreness would be a lot better than the likely death from staying behind, she thought.

Chapter 4: The Path Ahead

The Dome of Fontaine
Lake Guardian

Yui managed to take several steps forward before the growing tremors threw her off balance, causing her to take a knee to avoid falling over. She slowed her breathing and controlled the pacing, inhaling and exhaling at a timing that she determined.

She paused in the passage as she took a moment to collect herself once more, her stomach and ribs were still feeling quite sore and made breathing somewhat of a challenge. She looked back over her shoulder to Agnes and Cid, checking to see if they had progressed at all.

Yui could still see both of them despite the dust and dirt getting kicked around by the dangerous passage, neither of them seeming to have moved at all. She immediately refocused on her own goals as a stone came loose from the ceiling of the passage, whizzing past her face before crashing down into the floor with a loud crack.

She didn't have the time to consider what Cid or Agnes was doing. The best that she could do would be to head a bit further and then begin to rest, so she could try to help out if she needed to.

She was far from being able to give a helping hand at the moment, using her spear to pull herself up from her kneeling position. With the ever-growing tremors rocking the passage Yui found it excessively hard to maintain her balance, having to lean on the walls sporadically as she began to advance further.

Thankfully much of what was being shaken loose from the ceiling seemed to be of no consequence thus far, but the dirt and dust was doing little favors for her labored breathing. She felt like she could fall over at any moment, with the tremors shaking everything as it were.
