| Chapter 4: The Path AheadAlferian Woods, Cross KingdomGrand SorcererThe Alferian woods is the single most largest forest in Wrozan. It is full of mythical beast and rare plant life. The Alfeir guard these woods very carefully, not allowing poachers and hunters from outside into the forest. A few hours had passed since Eligor and his escorts departed the village of Su'til. The trip had been peaceful so far but all that was about to change for the sun was beginning to set, and the Alferian Forest has a completely different environment at night. With only a few hours left of daylight, the party could normally just camp in the forest. But time was not on their side, Eligor needed to reach his destination as soon as possible. The journey through the forest at night would be perilous but luckily Eligor was in the company of capable people. | |

While not usually his thing, Eligor understood that haste was required here so despite any reservations he might have had about skipping rest, he knew that it was necessary if they were to reach their destination on time. There was something troubling about the woods, but he hadn't even been near this place in well over 500 years, and hadn't been recording things way yet when back when, so any knowledge he may have discovered was lost to him unless his brain decided to give him a jolt of memory-induced information which was decidedly unlikely at this point.
He trudged on through the trees, watching for any potential dangers, knowing that the guards weren't there entirely to keep people out, as for all that there was a great potential for glory if a hunter managed to bag any of the creatures dwelling within, not all of them were friendly, even to Alfeir. He only hoped that during their trip that they would stay hidden, as he had no interest in fighting right now, especially not when time was not on their side.

| Chapter 4: The Path Ahead
Alferian Woods, Cross Kingdom Grand Sorcerer
Night time in the Alferian woods. The darkness brought out the numerous species of nocturnal creatures living in the ancient forest. It is as if the entire woodlands came to life the moment the sun eclipsed. It appeared peaceful from the distance, however, in truth there are more than a thousand things in this forest that could kill any man.
Eligor's escorts advised the man to stay away from the sides of the boat. There are many aquatic predators lying in wait near the water's surface, waiting for the opportune moment to strike at unsuspecting prey.
The journey would take at least three days if they continued without rest. However, this is not possible, hence they are scheduled to stop by at the castle of Cross after they clear the thick portion of the forest.

Although disappointed that they couldn't continue on, Eligor knew that they wouldn't last that long without resting at least once, so h agreed with the guard's suggestion to make a stop at the castle. No other words came from his lips for the entirety of the trip to said place, after all, speaking wasn't exactly his strong suit. That didn't stop him from removing his mask due to sweat accumulation and clearing his forehead before replacing it, he felt the need to stay as protected as possible in this place, and while he knew that this was Alfeir territory, not every corner of the kingdom could be considered civilized.

| Chapter 4: The Path Ahead
Alferian Woods, Cross Kingdom Grand Sorcerer
Suddenly tiny bits of light started surrounding the boat. These tiny balls of light were called Wisps, they illuminated most of the areas surrounding their vessel. Wisps are generally harmless, and often do more good than harm. They seem to be assisting Eligor and his group in their journey through the dark Alferian forest.
All seemed well, apart from this tiny irritation in the back of Eligor's head. Something was telling him to kill the other Alfeirs and to jump into the river. The voice started out almost inaudible, but as time passed by, it grew louder and louder, until it was to a point deafening to Eligor.
Only Eligor could hear it, it seems that the other Alfeirs were unaffected by it. But now Eligor faces a real dilemma, he is being possessed by a spirit. Eligor must fight it or he will be forced to do the unthinkable.
CHALLENGE EVENT!
Eligor is being attacked by a Spirit or Spirits, these spirits are evil in nature and wants Eligor to murder his escorts and then to commit suicide. It took far too long for Eligor to realize he was being possessed. The beings doing it were powerful to overcome his natural defenses, and it served to make him wary of them, but he would not stand to have his will supplanted by that of a spirit! He twisted his neck, a popping sound echoing as he prepared himself mentally for what he was about to attempt. He did not get this far only to fail now.
He could feel whatever it was as it warred with him for control, but he would not be deterred, and his eyes glowed as he began marshaling his magical prowess to combat it. The internal struggle creating an image of two forces clashing, each attempting to push the other back but only little ground being gained, only to be lost as the opposing force surged to retake it and make headway as well. The cycle continued for what seemed to be days but in reality only seconds passed.
The struggle was taking its toll on Eligor, as the spirit was proving that despite having no physical form it was not to be dismissed. He kept pushing back at the being, knowing that for all that they were here to escort him, his guards would be of no help in this fight. He was on his own. Cursing his inability to exorcise it immediately, the centuries-old Alfeir gave one last push, hoping that this time, he might finally succeed in evicting the unwelcome tenant.

Alferian Woods, Cross Kingdom Grand Sorcerer
CHALLENGE EVENT COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY!
1000 XP awarded to Eligor
The sentries noticed that Eligor was having some trouble, one of them taps Eligor on the shoulder and asks him if he was okay. The malicious spirits in the forest tried to have their way with Eligor's mind, but fortunately the Afleir was able to fight them off with his will alone. There were things in these woods, far more dangerous that these lesser spirits. Fortunately, none of them were looking to cause any trouble tonight.
While Eligor was resting, a shadowy figure appeared to him from across the river. It was in the shape of a hooded woman, and it was apparently looking right at Eligor's eyes. Her gaze followed Eligor until the boat finally made a turn. She didn't appear anymore after that nor did she say anything. But her eyes delivered a message to Eligor. A message warning him of what awaits him at the end of his journey.
Daybreak, finally the long night was over. The group were close to the Great Castle of Cross. If they continued on their present course at their current speed, they should arrive there within the day.
Eligor's Chapter 4 has ended. His story will continue in Chapter 5 2000 XP awarded for Chapter Completion.
