Chapter 4: The Path Ahead

Sakuya sighed, her bonding agent made from the plants and sap just wasn't enough, she needed more of it and needed it to be thicker. She went back towards the forest, once again keeping focused on everything around her as she did. She gathered up some more of the previous materials and was able to find some more plants that could help a little further in. Once again she went back and started to heat up the substances. She had her partially done raft nearby and out of the water and once this concoction was done she applied it to the places where the boards met. She decided she might need more support for the raft to hold all the weight she might need. She took some more wood to go underneath this top layer, going in an opposite direction and bound it with vines to the rest. She then went once more to test this out.

It seemed to be floating well without any weight on it so far, and now it was time to test it out with her weight added on, she climbed on and looked to see if any errors would arise.

The bindings seemed to be holding up well and it wasn't taking on any water just yet. She was relieved to see she had seemed to make it properly this time. She then started to check each side thoroughly pushing on some parts to see how well the raft could handle stress.

It seemed she found one spot that might not have the strength to make it over the distance, she pulled the raft back to the shore and bound it tighter and added some of her special mix of plants and sap to help reinforce it. Then it was time to test it all over again.

The test was a success, it seemed this raft might just be able to make it. She gave it one more final check before she set sail.

It took Sakuya 5 hours to finally assemble a working boat. Now she could use it to travel safely to the next island, and hopefully to a place with people. There was, however, a tiny problem. All the commotion has attracted the attention of these Dog-sized Red Spider's called Gagamba. These small critters will eat anything organic, even Sakuya's boat. She must now defend herself and her boat in order to escape from this island.

With the Spiders defeated, Sakuya find the second note left to her by Hunt. It will be a while before she see's Hunt again, after all the man is always one step ahead of her ever since they first met in the island.

Truth be told, it wasn't the waves that brought Sakuya to this island, it was hunt. During one of his fishing trips, he saw a person floating in the sea on board a wooden plank. Hunt pulled Sakuya in and left her by the shore to go and fetch his fishing materials that he left floating on the sea. He also knew Sakuya would somehow switch plates with him, after all, he did warn her about not trusting anyone which in turn made her suspicious of him. He actually seasoned both dishes with sweetsalt, the drug he used to put Sakuya to sleep. Hunt had been using that type of salt all his life and is immune to it's narcotic effects.

Hunt's true intentions for Sakuya might never be revealed, but one thing was for certain. She can finally get off this wretched island.
