FFMSL CHARACTER APPLICATION FORM
Name: Marlow Sithaer
Age: 20
Gender: Male
Race: Alfier-Human hybrid
Character Appearance and Personality: APPEARANCEMarlow has short, straight, unkept black hair that rather resembles a long-haired rat living on his head than a hair style. He is rarely ever clean, always dirty, and usually sticky. His sense of personal hygiene is as lacking as his pocketbook. His clothing is a conglomeration of what fit him, kept him warm, and was affordable - in most cases, never paid for at all.
PERSONALITYThis young man is a poster-child for why the aged loathe the youth of modern day: energetic, profane, issues with authority, disregard for the law, disrespectful, questioning, and emotional. His inability to let things go often gets him into trouble. He can be exceedingly clever and inventive with what he has available, but he is naive and constantly lacking in wisdom and understanding. His ignorance is often humorous, if only one has the patience to laugh. He is independent, but undependable, unaccountable, and irresponsible.
Marlow accepts that other people dislike him, and this resentment leads him to sometimes purposefully be even more unlikable, even going out of his way to do so. In general, he doesn't care what others think of him, having grown up being called excessive derogatory labels. He tends to annoy others because of how much he talks and how little effort and intelligence those words carry. For his role-models and loved ones, he cares immensely and has a big heart.
He is not a kleptomaniac but he has a proclivity for thievery - and a big mouth to brag about it. His moral compass is nearly nonexistent and fairly pliable.
Character History: FAMILY TREEOne of the most successful - yet least famous, as he tends to stick to himself - of the Sithaer family line is
Eligor (app) , a third-cousin of Marlow's family. Marlow's great grandfather was pureblooded Alfier. He met a human woman in Western Wrozan (Greenhill), and settled just outside it. They had many children, one of whom was Marto, who married human Matinagale. They had nine sons and daughters, all Human-Alfier hybrid. Of those, the third child was Marlow, their first male, but hardly their most accomplished. Their Alfier blood-ties gave them a longer life and more proclivity towards magic, and their Human counterpart made them more versatile.
CHILDHOODIn a crowded family, Marlow did what he could, ate what was in front of him, and never asked many questions about where the family's income stream came from. They grew up under socioeconomic strain and not being a whole species of anything, always felt a keen sense of unbelonging. The family has always been merely tolerated in Greenhill by the ruling Aldis family, but never explicitly outcast due to their desperation for a better economy.
At age sixteen, Marlow broke away from the chaotic, crowded family dynamic and survived on the streets and the kindness of acquaintances and friends. Until the cold and rainy season came around and he had to move back in with his family because he could not survive the harsh elements and refused to take up a properly paying career. But his taste for independence couldn't be shook, and at age nineteen, he took to wandering once more. His father wasn't happy but understood the value of support and doled it out in abundance, while his mother fretted and continued to set Marlow's place at the table, expecting him home any day. Aimless, Marlow craves companionship, guidance, goals, free things, and plenty of places to sow his wild oats.
RECENT EVENTSSeveral months ago, he became interested in visiting Drakestone Island and stowawayed on a merchant ship. He was discovered immediately and made to work off his board and food with dirty work, as the captain was a compassionate human who took pity on him, having once been a rabblerouser himself. He arrived at Drakestone and saw the city, living off of what fruit and produce he could pick undetected from wetland farmlands. At the time, Eligor was there, too, but Marlow had no knowledge of it. Shortly before the city's demise, the ship captain's daughter caught his eye and he re-entered his labor for fare to be around her; the lass rejected him immediately, sticking Marlow on the long, awkward voyage home to the mainland before Drakestone was no more.
