Chapter 3: Sleep

Witch Hill
The Journey to the West

Chapter 3: Sleep Scenewitchhill

Night has fallen. Agnes and Eligor have reached Witch Hill, a massive grave site where thousands of innocent women were slain and buried. Before the unjust massacre this area was just a plain field. Originally it was excavated to hold the bodies of those who were accused of black magic and witch craft, but as the body count grew so did the ground. Eventually it formed a hill made from the bodies of the slain women.

The place itself is uninhabited and during night time, the souls of those murdered here are said to seen walking the plains. There are also a large number of dark shady creatures lurking in this area. Here, Agnes and Eligor can choose to spend the night. But these should be wary of the dark presence that looms in Witch Hill.

Witch Hill
The Journey to the West

Wincing as he landed, Eligor looked around briefly as he cast a healing spell on himself and his companion. The moon illuminated the surroundings to a degree but there was something off about it, as for all that nothing could be seen moving, there was a distinct lack of wildlife that would suggest this place was habitable. He froze as he took in the large hill before him. He had been here before by happenstance, and it wasn't his fondest memory, as after feeling the foul magic in the air he had fled post-haste. He had been a fairly young Alfeir at the time, only 300 years old and didn't have his conjuration skills at the time, so he was rather unprepared for the horrors in this place.

He cursed under his breath. In his haste to get away last time, he had made no notes of where the exit was, fleeing being all he cared about rather than remarking on what was where and how to get in and out of the place. It seemed rather ominous that he returned here almost 900 years later, and the place still gave him the shivers.

Channeling his magic, he crafted an orb of light, holding it aloft as he looked about with sharper eyes than in his youth. The last Sithaer couldn't trust his senses, as they were screaming at him to leave this unholy place immediately. But that wasn't an option right now.

"If you can manage, we should stay vigilant through the night."

Letting down one's guard here could prove disastrous.

PostSubject: Re: Chapter 3: Sleep   Chapter 3: Sleep EmptyTue Apr 19, 2016 2:09 pm

Agnes Nera

BEEEESHHHOOOOOOOWW~! The blast from Agnes' palm erased the two Giant Snakes before evaporating into thin air. She was damn exhausted and fucking thirsty. She looked over to the distance and saw a hill with some trees not to far from where she was. Agnes made the grueling journey to the hill, not knowing it was the famous Witch Hill, upon where thousands of maidens lay dead. Fuck it~ At that point in her life she didn't care if the place was a Dragon's den. Her perched lips needed to be quenched with life giving water.~

The weird man kept following Agnes, he even cast a healing spell that healed Agnes' minor wounds. Honestly it has been some time since she's received any form of kindness. This weirdo seemed like an honest and good person, which made Agnes worry more. She might turn into a demon at any time and be forced to kill this man. Little did she know that the demon was feeding off of her fear. The more she felt Fear, the more powerful the demon's hold to her became.~

Agnes was having trouble seeing in the dark, thankfully the weirdo used a light orb to illuminate the surroundings. Agnes could probably have done the same, even better, but her mind was focused elsewhere like locating food and water.~ Not to mention, a change of clothing~

Proving to be a good person, Agnes decided to talk with the weirdo to at least get a chance to know who she was travelling with. She veers to the weirdo and conjures a cute ~Oh well~ type of smile, crosses her arms over her chest, covering her nearly exposed tiny bosom and says, "So~ Ummm... Where are you headed~?"

Witch Hill
The Journey to the West

Flicking his eyes in her direction, not a hint of lust or any other emotion except idle curiosity as he beheld her. A silence fell once again as he moved forward, his magic orb showing the way. The graves (the few that were dug) cast pale shadows in the moonlight, and a crow cawed in the distance. His distaste for carrion birds notwithstanding, he just didn't care for the things.

The eerie quiet continued for a several more moments before he deigned to answer, sort-of. "Away from here." He knew it was rude, but quite frankly he didn't care.

He had never had a destination in mind, only going where he felt things were interesting. With most of his family dead and few friends to speak of (also likely dead) he was quite on his own. The fact no one had seen his face in over 700 years spoke to his solitude. Perhaps not from civilization, but from relationships.

The only living woman in the area held no appeal to him. A child (infant really) in years compared to his already long life, she had little to offer him. He rolled his eyes behind his mask before walking on.

Agnes Nera

"Away huh~?" That answer meant something to Agnes. Not too long ago she was fleeing from the Delvas and the Empire, she just wanted to run away. Away from everything. Perhaps this man was running from something too. She didn't understand why he'd be running though, most of the men she knew met their fears and despair with courage.~

The cold air blew Agnes' hair on her face, she was forced to brush them away with her soft hands. It was starting to get cold and Agnes was in dire need of some warmer clothing. The light the weirdo was making was bright but it wasn't bright enough to scan across great distances. Agnes nodded her head in respect to the weirdo then she popped a glowing orb, brighter than the one the man made. It flew up up up into the sky, As it did, the light spread out illuminating a wider range and also revealing that there were several Dark figures hiding in the shadows nearby. They hid from the light and was forced to back away after Agnes cast her orb.~

The Orb Agnes conjured was sparkling and let off tiny little sparkles that floated peacefully in the air in suspended animation. This type of magic was not something a Demon could do or would do~ It was Agnes' natural energy, her true self.~

She was looking around until she found a skeleton hanging from a tree, wearing a black battle dress and hat. She approached the skeleton and determined that it had been dead for more than 2 hundred years.

"Looks like you won't be needing this~" Agnes shook the Skeleton off the tree and took it's clothes, she dusted the clothes before putting it on over her old tattered dress. It fit her perfectly, almost like it was made for her.~ Then she noticed her hair, it was longer than she'd like it to be.~ Also she had a new purpose which called for a new haircut.~

Agnes put her two fingers together on her right hand and created a thin magical beam that was sharp as a newly sharpened knife. And with her left hand she pulled her hair out then she used her knife magic to cut it up to the level of her neck.~ Then she took the Hat from the Skeleton and put it on top of her head.
Chapter 3: Sleep Giphy

She knew people would be after her~ So she decided to change her appearance. Also, her long hair was being a nuisance to her.~ Then she scouted around looking for something to drink.~

Witch Hill
The Journey to the West

Ignoring the soft-spoken reply, the Alfeir opened his tome and made some notes on Witch Hill. He'd prefer not to come back, but if events conspired that forced him to return, then so be it. When he was done writing, he closed it with a snap, the sound echoing for a bit.  It was then that he noticed an expanding light, revealing the native monsters.

He couldn't be bothered to deal with them right now, his focus solely on leaving this place. He could get back to his wandering after that. This detour had proven more trouble than it was worth, knowledge of demon powers or not. Eligor preferred to avoid these kinds of situations, and now he'd been caught up in the girl's troubles. Silently cursing his bad luck, the old conjurer flared his magic, summoning a blue aura around himself for a moment before it faded, although it was quickly replaced a bolt of sunlight in his hand. Knowing the dark's fear of the light, he kept it active as he moved. Lingering here would only cause trouble. Trouble that Eligor had had far too much of lately.

Chapter 3: Sleep Empty
PostSubject: Re: Chapter 3: Sleep   Chapter 3: Sleep EmptyWed Apr 20, 2016 12:32 pm

Agnes Nera

Agnes was able to find an old metal pot on the floor, sure it was dirty but she had ways to clean it. She began searching for damp soil, she knew she'd find some underneath a tree so she went looking for them and surely she was able to collect some. Agnes placed the pot on top of a make shift stove made from rocks. Using her magic, she heated the pot with a magical orb. She wrapped the damp soil in a cloth and squeezed it until all the water in the soil was forced out. Using her metal pot, she collected the filthy water and waited for the water to boil.~

As soon as the water started boiling, she used a part of her old dress to gather the steam coming off from the boiling water. She now has clean water to drink, and as soon as the cloth was moist, Agnes sucked the water from it. It wasn't much but it was enough to keep her from being dehydrated.~

She continued this process over and over until she was able to satiate her thirst.~ She looked around and saw that the weird man was covering himself with magic. Agnes thought it might be some sort of defensive spell to ward off evil beings. But as she looked around she saw that these beings had more to fear from them. Also she realized that there was something evil within her as well.~ Agnes felt like she was somehow a danger to everyone and seeing the weirdo cast a protection spell only made her feel bad about herself.~

Chapter 3: Sleep

Witch Hill
The Journey to the West

Little that Agnes and Eligor knew that they were being watched by several dozens of Shades that plagued these lands. They were being drawn by the Fabula Nova Crystal Agnes was carrying for it was a much valued tome among spiritual beings. The longer they stay in Witch Hill, the more monsters arrive. Shades maybe afraid of the light, but some dark monsters aren't.

From the distance, a silhouette of a man could be seen walking towards Agnes and Eligor. It was dark and hard to tell what he looked like from afar. He carried no light, yet he was able to walk in the darkness safely. There was also something odd about the way he walked. His body seemed to be in disagreement with his stride and pose. The man's presence gave off an eerie silence, it was almost like everything stopped and was watching very closely. The ambiance of the air also reeked of violence. Somewhere in the dark the thirst of blood lingers.

Agnes Nera

The air blew a foul stench, Agnes was able to pick up on it right away. She veered to wards the horizon and saw a mysterious figure approaching from a far. Despite having a demon inside her Agnes still felt treated by the strange entity that trekked the darkness.~ She arranged gently set her moist cloth down on a tombstone for safe keeping should she need it later.~ Stretching her legs, she poises up and dusts off her clothing in preparation for whatever was to come.~ Finally she arranged her hat so that it doesn't obscure her vision.~

Looking up, she noticed that her orb was almost at it's limits. She decided it would be best to cast another, even more brighter source of light just to be sure. Agnes sensed danger all around, she knew what waited in the darkness. She raised her hand up and pointed her palm to the sky.

"I who stand in the full light of Mara,
cast thy purifying light,
reveal my path and shine upon my enemies.
Illuminos!"

Agnes cast a giant ball of light that hovered several feet above her. It was bright enough to rival the sun, gradually it kept floating upward and upward, expanding it's luminous range.

Witch Hill
The Journey to the West

The fight with the Wraith was challenging, although it seemed his guard lasted long enough to keep it from tearing him apart. While he might not have contributed as much as the girl, he wasn't entirely useless, even if it had just been creating a distraction. Fortunately his healing spell had worked, and his minor wounds began to close as the rush of battle faded. Remembering the girl's lack of acknowledgment regarding healing in the past, he simply cast Energize, restoring her stamina before walking off.

Speaking over his shoulder as he moved, he told Agnes, "Unless you want to fight another one of those unassisted, I suggest moving."

Chapter 3: Sleep
Witch Hill: The Journey to the West

Agnes was about to leave just as the weirdo suggested, but a shinning object, underneath one of the trees caught her eye. She went over to investigate and saw a sack filled with large sums of Gil. The battle must have somehow caused the sack to rupture and thus revealing the hidden treasure.~

"Oh look it must be my lucky day~!" Agnes joyfully praised herself. She took the sack and tied a knot around the part where it was torn. It was heavier than she expected, but money is money and she wanted to spend it right away.~

"So there's a town not far from here.~ I don't know about you but I'm getting some nice clothes, a proper bath.~" Agnes went rambling on about the things she would buy as she walked away with her gold.~

Chapter 3: Sleep

Witch Hill
The Journey to the West

The Wraith's defeat has sent it back to the underworld. But the night was far from over. As Agnes and Eligor grow more tired, more and more dark creatures surround them. They are all being drawn by the Fabula Nova Crystal that Agnes has with her.

There were two villages west of Witch Hill, Ohglis and Riverun it will be up to Agnes and Eligor which way they will go. They could stay together or they could also choose separate paths. After these two villages lies the Kingdom of Cross. It belongs to the Alfeirs and they are not too kind with trespassers.
