| Chapter 6: Tangled Fates - Forward, Always Forward
Ezekiel struggled to stay conscious. He has lost a lot of blood and still had an arrow sticking through his shoulder. He was angry with himself for failing to protect the caravan he was hired to protect from bandits on the road to North Bridge. Not only that but he was the only survivor or at least he did not find anyone else alive before stumbling off toward the city. "But hey at least none of them got away." He thought to himself as he walked
Ezekiel slowed to a stop at the gate into North Bridge. With an outstretched hand he leaned against the wall before turning and lowering himself on to the ground. Ezekiel sat there doing his best not to put pressure on the arrow in his shoulder and just listened to the noise of the city trying not to focus on the pain from his wounds.
“I guess this means I am not getting paid.” He mumbled to himself before placing his hand over his face. It was the first time that people he was hired to protect had died the first time he had failed since gaining his freedom. Ezekiel sat there for what to him seemed like a lifetime before forcing himself to stand once again. His whole body ached as he made it upright. Ezekiel turned to head into the city so he could find someone to patch him up. After he took a few steps his vision blurred and Ezekiel felt his legs give out as everything faded to black.

| Chapter 6: Tangled Fates Northbridge Quest: Forward, always forwardNowadays, it wasn't uncommon when injured people showed up at the town's doorstep. The war in the north has had numerous casualties. Townhall was already overrunning with people who are affected by the war. There's plenty of large tents setup in the main plaza, used as infirmaries. Ezekiel couldn't have come at a better time. Some of the townspeople saw him and was able to take him to the nearest infirmary to be healed. Ezekiel was lucky that none of his injuries were fatal, but unfortunately for him there were no magical healers in the tent where he was delivered. They had to disinfect and sew up his wounds the old fashioned way. After being operated on, Ezekiel was transferred to the recovery ward, another tent for post-op patients. Hours had passed, it was already the midnight and most of the action had died down. The town had receded back to a quiet and peaceful place. While the towns remained open, the gates to castle had been closed off from the public. Only military personnel and people with special authorization were allowed to pass through the bridge, via the castle. Ramoan soldiers patrolled the town streets, as well as the exterior and interior of the castle. The Ramoan army are not going to participate the northern war, but that didn't mean they could help the wounded and the refugees. One of the nurses walked in the tent and attended to one of the patients. While Ezekiel was resting, he heard some rustling from the distance. One of the patients was murmuring some sort of inaudible noise. Then he heard the patient gasp one last time followed by total silence. There was something in the infirmary with them, preying on the weak and unaware. If Ezekiel decides to turn and to see what all the ruckus was about, he would find that whatever was making those noises was staring right at him. | |

| Ezekiel was awoken by faint voices and the sound of one of the other patients letting out a gasp. He let out a slight groan as he lifted himself to sit up on the bed. He turned placing his feet on the floor and began to scan the room in the direction of where the noises came from. To his surprise there was an individual standing in the tent looking at him. Their eyes giving off a faint glow in the dim light. He could see what looked like blood on their face. Seeing this Ezekiel jumped to his feet. He could feel each one of his stitches pull on his skin as he moved. He quickly grabbed his gunblades and pointed one of them at the person. “Who are you?” he questioned. | |

| Chapter 6: Tangled Fates
Northbridge Quest: Forward, always forward
As soon as Ezekiel went for his blades, the monster disappeared like a shadow in the night leaving behind a corpse drained of blood. It seems that Northbridge has a vampire problem. The war had given opportunities for creatures such as this to thrive on the weak and wounded. Who knows how many more were in the town, the guards don't seem to notice them. It was genius really, instead of attacking healthy civilians, the vampire/s have chosen to feed on the sick and dying.
Ezekiel has had some time to recover, but not fully, not yet. There were no monsters like this in Thanatos, not for hundreds of years. The Empire had taken more than what they can from the land in their insatiable quest for power. Luckily, Wrozan was full of life, but is also filled with more dangers.
The night is young. There's still six hours till sunlight. Ezekiel can either stay in this recovery ward, or he could move on. But this also meant leaving the other patients defenseless should the vampire choose to return for more.
(Ezekiel is still recovering, he will start at 80% Max HP on his next battle.)

| As soon as “Who are you” left his lips he realized the creature was gone. He quickly gathered his belongings before moving to check on the others in the tent. He started with the person that was closest to where the creature had been. There he found a bloodied corpse with a bite taken out of its neck. Ezekiel thought on what he saw as he moved about checking each of the other people in the tent. He recalled his studies back home many of which dealt with the known monsters that inhabit the world. Here he had a creature who’s eye glowed in low light, was able to seemingly vanish, and appears to feed on blood. All signs in his mind pointed to only one type of creature one that had not been seen in the Empire for hundreds of years.
“Vampires?” he questioned himself aloud as he finished checking the last person in the tent. Everyone else in the tent seemed to be alive as well as could be expected given the states they were in. Ezekiel pulled the straps on his armor tight. Doing so made him wince in pain. He knew in the back of his head that he should not go looking for a fight but he also could let this creature keep killing people. He spun the barrel on each of his gunblade and began to move toward the next closest tent. As he neared the opening leading inside Ezekiel used the blade of the gunblade to lift the flap.

| Chapter 6: Tangled Fates
Northbridge Quest: Forward, always forward
Ezekiel has tasked himself of finding the Vampire. These creatures were built for stealth and are masters of hiding in the shadows. Ezekiel would have to tap into his best detective mode in order to track down these things. They left no footprints and could see perfectly during the night. The odds were definitely not in Ezekiel's favor.
As he searched the other tents, he found no trace of the vampire. The stench of blood was abundant though, nearly everyone in the infirmary had grievous injuries. Even after searching the other tents, Ezekiel would turn up dry on his quest to find the monster that killed one of the patients.
Apart from hiding in the shadows, Vampires could easily pass off as a normal person. All they had to do was clean off the blood on their body and no one would be able to tell them apart from everyone else, especially at night time, when there's no sun.
It would seem that the Vampire had gotten ahead of Ezekiel. But the creature did leave behind trails of blood from it's last victim. The trail leads north, towards the castle. Unfortunately, as stated before, the castle is closed off to ordinary citizens.

| Ezekiel sighed heavily when the trail of blood he had been following lead to the now closed gate leading to the castle.”Well this is just great….” he thought to himself. But Ezekiel was not going to let this go. Almost as if some little voice was pushing him to pursue this creature. He quickly and quietly moved over to a large stack of crates near a market stall. He positioned himself out of sight from anyone that might walk by but still with a clear line of sight to the castle.
He sat there for a while getting an understanding of the guards movements and the best way he may avoid them and enter the castle. Now once inside the castle was another story. He was just going to have to wing that. If he made that far. Again with a heavy sighed Ezekiel move out from his hiding spot and begins to attempt to make his way into the castle.

| Chapter 6: Tangled Fates Northbridge Quest: Forward, always forward#ForwardAlwaysForward #Northbridge #Chapter6 @HayaseThe patrols around the castle were tight, but not impossible to penetrate. Ezekiel had been standing outside the castle for quite some time now. He's wasted enough time already, studying the guard's patrol patterns and the Vampire might have gotten very far by now. Ezekiel can still choose to abandon his quest. But once he steps inside the castle, there will be no turning back. The guards had just started moving, this was the right time to attempt a break-in. Ezekiel only had a short window of opportunity to make this break-in successful. If he gets caught, he might face a lifetime of imprisonment in the castle dungeons. CHALLENGE QUEST! In order to safely break-into the castle, @Hayase must roll the Challenge Dice 5 times, and get at least 3 CHECKS. If you fail, the guards will spot you and a battle will ensue. | |

| Ezekiel saw that guards had begun another patrol so if he was going to move it was now or never. He moved at a steady pace while keeping low and not staying in any lighted spots for but a split second. He moved along the castle wall until located a window above a section of the wall where the stone was damaged and wore. Ezekiel pulled out a knife and dug at the stone creating a place for where he could climb. As he finished he could hear voices coming towards. “Now or Never.” He thought to himself as he began to climb up into the window. | |

| Chapter 6: Tangled Fates Northbridge Quest: Forward, always forward#ForwardAlwaysForward #Northbridge #Chapter6 @Hayase(Challenge Quest Failed) The moment has come, Ezekiel makes his move and attempts to illegally enter the castle of North Bridge. He decided to go through a small window, one of many obvious entry points besides the main door. At first, everything seemed to go according to plan. Ezekiel was able to make it to the window and was able to climb in the castle. However. it would appear that Ezekiel did not have the properly plan his infiltration. He had accounted for the guards circling outside the castle, but what he failed to realize were the ones inside. As soon as Ezekiel dropped down from the window, he was met by a Ramoan Soldier. The Soldier was sneaking in the kitchen, trying to get some midnight snacks. The guard had ham stuck in his mouth so he didn't have the change to call for help right away. He pulled out his sword and charged at Ezekiel! | |
