Maria had a smile creep onto her face as the first wolf went down. "Well then~! This might actually be going better than I thought~!" She gave a small twirl of her staff before launching more ice-charged orbs at the second wolf. At this point it was merely a matter of how quickly she could pick off the second one. Maria wasn't sure if Sakuya had managed to escape or not, but the wolves were all still focused on her so she could only hope. She needed to stay focused on the battle at hand.

If she could take down the second wolf then she would be okay. The nyanqin's tail flicked back and forth in excitement as she began her assault once more.

Maria pouted slightly for a moment as she realized she incorrectly judged how weakened the second wolf had been. "You were supposed to die from that you know." An exhausted sigh came from the nyanqin's lips as she realized she was going to need to drink her potions soon. But it was alright, she knew she had just enough energy to take these two down.

The last wolves' blow caused Maria to yelp. As she struggled to stay standing, the young nyanqin lost the smile on her face. She was reaching the limits of her patience. She was beginning to regret sending the wolfqin away, but it was no use to dwell on the past at this point. She could only move forward.

The last of the Dire Wolves was about to call for help from it's pack, until something caused the hair on it's back to stand up on end. Before Maria had another chance to attack, it ran off with it's tail between it's legs, whimpering like a pup. It wasn't known whether this was a good sign, or a bad omen.
