Name: Gene Alsyan
Age: 27
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Character Appearance and Personality: Strong and ruggedly handsome (according to him), Gene is the epitome of manliness and one of the most desirable men in the land. He can't take two steps without women clinging to his heels (again, according to him).
He's fairly tall and muscular for a human like himself, with brown shaggy hair and bright white teeth to boot. Other than his amazing physique, his most notable features are his green garments with leather and metal work, as well as a flowing cape that amazes any who may gaze upon it.
Gene is, by heart, an Adventurer with the dream to explore the world and taste all the food, drink and women that it has to offer. But he's put off by Delva women, being akin to large walking statues with little to no sex appeal (in his opinion). He's very brash and doesn't hold back in matters of fighting and love, and does he
love fighting.
He also has a very hardy laugh that is one of the loudest ever heard around, being very full of himself and taking pride in that fact. He might be a jerk, but he's a nice jerk when he feels like it, knowing distinctly who his friends and enemies are. If his friends are in trouble, he won't think twice about diving head first into it to get them out of harm's way. For the most part, he just wants to enjoy life to the fullest whenever he gets the chance.
Character History: Gene grew up in a small time village in Doragul, Devos, where it was quiet for the most part. It was pretty boring though, as peace often would be, especially with the Delva around. Even though they were in charge, they weren't cruel or unfair. As long as everyone did their part to pitch in, they would be compensated equal to the amount of effort put into their work, no matter how small it may be. The Delva for the most part were passive and mild-mannered, with the exception of a few who believed their strength to be superior to that of any being on Lunaris, deity or otherwise. Any invader was easily repelled by the Delva, being stronger and tougher than pretty much anyone else. Doragul was best known for it's abundance of mineral deposits that are used in some of the best forging the world's ever seen, from weapons and armor to vehicle parts, even being the birth place of many a magical artifacts that were enchanted by Alfeir mages long ago.
Devos wasn't anything special by any means, just a backwater village that not too many knew about, home to people of many different species and ethnicities, but it didn't bother the Delva as long as they weren't there to cause trouble. From Gene's perspective, the Delva weren't mean to anyone, but they didn't really connect with anyone either, they were more like sentries than anything else. A few of them were some of the best blacksmiths around, being able to pound any metal to a fine cutting edge, but by no means did their labor come cheap.
He didn't like the way they looked, so Gene often played pranks on them as a kid, making some of them very angry. His parents, who were mere hunter gatherers, would get a lot of flak from the rest of the village for angering the Delva, but the village chief, an ancient and decrepit Delva amongst them, thought otherwise. He knew that he was just a boy and that he meant no real harm, but more than that, he thought he was special among the other children. He did what nobody else would even think to do, thinking that he would grow up to be either the biggest fool he'd come to know in his lifetime, or maybe even a great hero.
By the time he became an adolescent young man, he was already getting up the skirt of every young lass in the village and would get a beating from every one of them (whether it be from the their parents, partners, friends or the girls themselves), giving his parents even more trouble than they'd want. He still teased the Delva every now and again, but not as often as he did as a kid.
Feeling more rambunctious than ever, he wanted to learn how to fight and explore the world like all the adventurers he had heard about in stories. Little did he know that his father used to be an Adventurer himself, until he met his mother and settled down in the village and had him years later. But he didn't want to put anymore ideas into his son's head, wanting him to be a hunter like himself and aid the village like he should've been doing from the start.
Being the impatient prat that he was, but not before thinking about it for a while, he stole a broadsword from the most well known smith in the village and snuck off with it under the veil of night without letting anyone know of his departure at the age of 17. Knowing little to nothing about actual swordsmanship, he fought off wild beasts with a half-assed technique at his disposal, nearly getting him killed on numerous occasions.
These encounters have made him stronger and his technique improved over time with much practice, but that still didn't prepare him for the varies diseases that he caught from animal attacks, bad meat and poisonous plant life that populated the harsh forests of Doragul. He even fought against a terrifying monster that was akin to a giant wolverine that was apparently a guardian of the forest, lucky for him he was able to run away before it could remove his head from his shoulders.
3 years passed and he became a venerable fighter that acquired a taste for combat and eked an existence as a sellsword for those that had low income and were too weak or afraid to do anything themselves, ranging from killing bandits/wild animals/monsters, retrieval of lost goods, rescuing (preferably beautiful young women), and escorting. He mostly known for his reckless sword style that lacked a good defense and aimed to cut his opponent down before they can retaliate. His job bagged him some decent loot, earning him some decent (but not stellar) equipment, but still carried his first sword around with him that has been the target of market poachers for quite some time now. He even met a girl or two that DIDN'T beat him up for a change and did him a little service instead, at the cost of some coin to his surprise.
At age 21, he moved on to Thanatos to get a taste of the better things they offered, despite its rather foreboding name. There was a great bridge that connected Doragul and Thanatos together, but at a rather hefty bridge and immigration fee, which he begrudgingly paid and received an I.D. that was integral in certain business transactions and access to certain areas. He thought it was absolute nonsense that a card could dictate what he could and couldn't do without realizing the importance of security in the capital country of the almighty empire.
Even though it was bigger than his home town, it seemed much more boring to him with the lack of bar fights and shady characters looming about. The worst part about it was that in every town, there would be people there that would try forcing their stupid religion onto everybody, saying it would save everyone that was apart of the Chant of Light, as they called him. Gene was a man who believed in his own power and not that of some unseen force that everyone is supposed to expect to exist because they were told to. The women there were all stingy and the food was subpar at best. His biggest mistake however was sexual harassing a woman in public and was immediately sent to jail for a month. There was hardly any work to be had since nearly the whole continent was controlled by the Empire and took care any trouble that occurred, he left Thanatos as quickly as possible; 10 months was more than he could take.
Not willing to pay the troll toll for crossing another one of those accursed bridges, he commandeered a small rowboat and rowed for nearly 3 days with little food and drink. He was about ready to give up when a Hydra reared it's ugly heads, thinking that this would be the end of him and his adventure. One of it's attacks created a giant tidal wave that sent him and his vessel roaring across the sea whilst screaming his head off. He finally hit shore, his vessel destroyed and his person mostly intact, having him arrive at Ariel.
This place was 100 times better than Thantos, having amazing food, rare drink and exotic women. Time spent here was some of the best in his life. Even though the Qin girls were strange in their appearance that did not diminish their sex appeal in the slightest, making the girls back in his village look like small fry by comparison. He proceeded to party and drink almost everyday, making Ariel like a second home for him.
Of his 5 years there, his most memorable moment had to be when he met an Alfeir in a forested area all by herself, mostly just running from tree to whilst giggling like she was teasing him. She had eluded him for several days until she allowed him to catch her and hold her in his arms. Among all the women, Alfeirs had to be the most beautiful, with their usually golden hair and eyes like gemstones, as well as a soft touch. Without even saying a word to him, she kissed him on the lips, causing Gene to fall unconscious. When he woke up, she was gone and never saw her again. But found a small stone with a rune engraved into it that showed what appeared to be a name that projected itself right above the stone itself: 'Felka'. When ever he showed it to anyone else, they saw nothing but the engraved rune. One other Alfeir explained that this was a simple spell made for messages that could only be read by the person they were meant for.
With now excellent gear and experiences that could last him a lifetime, he decided to head off for the infamous land of Wrozan, where it's said that evil forces had been brewing for centuries since the events that took place millennia ago, where the dead returned unwelcome to the realm of the living. Feeling a little fired up by the prospect, he set off on a charted course for the far off land with the help of a not-so-willing captain and his crew. It was many a day before they reached land, the men feeling the atmosphere grow more stagnant and claustrophobic, being the superstitious types that they were. The biggest prospect of this trip for Gene was to maybe get his hands on an a 'cursed' item or two that could bring in some major coin. Another chapter in the Adventures of Gene Alsyan was about to be unfurled as he ventured into the unknown lands of Wrozan.
